The Bachelor of Accountancy program consists of 120 credits. To earn this degree, you need to complete College of Business Foundation and the Business Core Courses, and all University degree requirements, which include General Education requirements, Viewing a Wider World requirements, and elective credits, with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above.

Requirements to become a CPA are determined by the Board of Accountancy in the state in which you wish to become licensed in. All states require 150 credit hours for licensure. Therefore, a Bachelor of Accountancy does not meet the educational requirements to become a CPA. However, the additional coursework can be completed in the New Mexico State University Master of Accountancy. Some states, such as New Mexico allow applicants to take the CPA exam before completing the 150 hours required to be licensed.
