With a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Community Psychology degree from NMSU, you will be well prepared to fulfill that need and seek out employment opportunities with agencies that promote mental health wellness. Students who pursue the Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Commuity Psychology (CCP) at New Mexico State University Students are typically compassionate, community-oriented individuals with a strong interest in mental health, human behavior and social justice. They are dedicated to supporting individuals and communities by developing interpersonal skills, understanding diverse perspectives and addressing mental health challenges.
Students in the CCP program often aspire to work in roles such as behavioral health technicians, community case workers or mental health paraprofessionals, and are well-prepared for graduate studies in counseling or psychology. Uniquely designed to allow for a double major, the CCP program also makes it easy for you to integrate coursework toward licensure as a Substance Abuse Associate.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Counseling and Community Psychology (CCP) prepares students to work at the bachelor's level, focusing on interpersonal skills, case management, awareness of mental health issues, understanding human behavior and multicultural awareness. Alternatively, the CCP undergraduate major prepares students for graduate school to become practitioners in the field of psychology with an additional focus on research and professional psychology practice opportunities.
The BS in Counseling and Community Psychology program consists of 120 credits. To earn this degree, you need to complete all University degree requirements, which include General Education requirements, Viewing a Wider World requirements and elective credits, with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above.
