What factors are responsible for generating all the variety of colors and shapes of flowers, trees and different types of animals? The comprehensive Genetics and Biotechnology program at NMSU covers genetics at the DNA/gene/genome level, organism level and within/among populations, ensuring a well-rounded education. Students engage with ethical issues related to genetic technologies, preparing them to navigate the complexities of modern genetics.

The Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Biotechnology consists of 120-122 credits. To earn this degree, you need to complete all departmental required courses including 31 credits in Tier I courses and 9-11 Tier II courses; and all University degree requirements, which include General Education requirements, Viewing a Wider World requirements and elective credits with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above.
