Students who are drawn to the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at New Mexico State University (NMSU) typically have a deep curiosity about human behavior and a desire to understand the complexities of the mind. They are often empathetic individuals who enjoy engaging with others, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and are interested in exploring how emotions, cognition, and social interactions influence actions and decisions. 

Students may take a major in psychology either as an area of emphasis in a liberal arts program or in preparation for further graduate education leading to professional careers in psychology. 

Many of our psychology alumni get careers in government, business, and industry settings. With this degree, you will also be well prepared to continue your studies in graduate school programs such as psychology, medical school, law school, and MBA programs.

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology has a two-year second language requirement. 

The BA in psychology program consists of 120 credits. To earn this degree, you need to complete all university degree requirements, which include General Education requirements, Viewing a Wider World requirements, and elective credits, with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above.
