Leadership

The president is the chief executive officer of the university system and is charged with responsibility for providing strategic direction and general supervision over all affairs of the university. The president is selected by the Board of Regents.

NMSU is served by a provost. The provost is the president's chief academic officer. Under the president, and for their respective units, the provost oversees all academic programs and provide general administrative supervision of all academic units of the university.

Various vice presidents and others who report directly to the president are responsible for day-to-day administration of particular units.
