TEDxNMSU is an independently organized TEDx event hosted at New Mexico State University. TEDx events are local gatherings created under a free license granted by TED to bring communities together through ideas worth spreading.
The “x” in TEDx stands for independently organized TED event.
No. TEDxNMSU is independently organized under an official TEDx license and follows TED’s rules and guidelines.

Yes. TEDxNMSU is a free event. Registration is still required due to limited seating.

Because this is our first TEDx event, attendance is limited to 100 guests in accordance with TEDx licensing guidelines for first-time organizers.
Yes. Food and refreshments will be available through Sodexo during the event.

TEDxNMSU is student-led and independently organized. NMSU Marketing and Communications department is assisting students with the event.
Attendees can expect TED-style talks, inspiring ideas, meaningful conversations and community connection through speakers from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.
TEDx talks are typically under 18 minutes long and are designed to present one powerful idea clearly and concisely.
Yes. TEDx talks are commonly recorded for possible publication on TEDx digital platforms in accordance with TED guidelines.
Speaker announcements, applications or nominations will be shared through TEDxNMSU communication channels if opportunities become available.
Business casual or professional attire is recommended.
Yes. TEDx events are volunteer-driven and organized as nonprofit community experiences focused on ideas worth spreading.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event, TEDxNMSU, is independently organized under a TEDx license. At TEDxNMSU, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
Yes. TEDx events must follow TED’s official policies regarding branding, speaker content, sponsorships, recordings and event conduct.

Speaker FAQ's

TEDxNMSU welcomes applications from individuals who have an original idea, experience or perspective that aligns with the TEDx mission of sharing ideas worth spreading. Applicants should have prior public speaking experience and the ability to effectively communicate their ideas to an audience.
Speaker applications will be reviewed by a TEDxNMSU selection committee. The committee will evaluate applicants based on the strength and originality of their idea, relevance to the TEDx mission, speaking experience and ability to deliver an engaging presentation.
Yes. Rehearsals are mandatory for all selected speakers. Speakers must also attend the TEDxNMSU event in person and participate in all required coaching sessions.
Rehearsals are mandatory and attending the TEDxNMSU event in person.
Yes. Selected speakers will work with the TEDxNMSU team through the preparation process, including coaching and rehearsals to help refine their presentations and ensure they meet TEDx standards.
TEDx generally prefers talks to be delivered by a single speaker. However, co-presenter applications will be considered when two speakers are essential to presenting the idea. Applicants must explain why two presenters are necessary and describe the unique expertise each person brings to the presentation.
